Krushi N Barfiwala
Krushi was enrolled as an advocate of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa in 2010 after completing her LL.B from Government Law College, Mumbai. She is currently a Counsel with the Civil and Commercial Litigation Team of Parinam Law Associates.
Krushi specializes in litigation (commercial, insolvency and general civil) and shipping with significant experience in all aspects of litigation and arbitration matters ranging from drafting pleadings for all levels of proceedings, attending hearings, preparing for trials, settlement, general advisory work etc. Krushi has advised and represented clients in disputes arising out of government tenders and in complex commercial disputes before the Bombay High Court, Supreme Court and other forums, vide Company Petitions, Writ Petitions, winding up proceedings, recovery suits, etc. She has also advised and represented clients before the Calcutta and Guwahati High Court in disputes involving defence procurement equipment. She regularly advises and represents domestic as well as foreign clients in arbitral proceedings. Krushi also advises and represents clients before the Securities Appellate Tribunal.
She advises foreign clients and liaises with foreign law firms on matters involving Indian laws. Krushi regularly represents companies in matters before the National Company Law Tribunals and DRT. She advises and represents companies and individuals in prosecuting and defending proceedings and claims arising under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code and the implications of the Code, pre and post commencement of the Corporate Resolution Insolvency Process. Krushi also advises and represents clients in matters involving shareholder disputes including oppression and mismanagement. She has also been regularly advising and representing one of India’s largest digital cinema and advertising distribution network company and production companies in the entertainment industry on disputes arising out of contracts with artists.
She has represented charterers and ship owners in matters involving the arrest of vessels, enforcement of mortgage claims, crew wages etc. Krushi’s shipping practice includes advising and representing one of the upcoming private ports in India for recovery of their dues and other advisory work from time to time. She has also been involved in conducting due diligence for sale & purchase of vessels.
